Early intervention is the orthodontic treatment of children between 7 and 10 years old. Rather than focusing on straightening adult teeth, the main focus of early intervention is to ensure there is enough room for the adult teeth to come through and that the upper and lower jaw are in correct alignment.
What does a children's orthodontist look for?
Not every child needs early intervention, but if they do, there is good reason
Dr Gullotta will assess:
- Whether the upper and lower jaws are growing in correct alignment with one another
- Whether there are any missing teeth, extra teeth, or teeth that are growing in the wrong direction or position
- Whether there is enough room in the jaws to fit any future adult teeth
