Gullotta Orthodontics FAQs

Gullotta Orthodontics FAQs 800 493 Dr Nino Gullotta
  1. How much experience does Dr Gullotta have?
Dr Nino Gullotta has been creating new Gold Coast smiles for over 35 years. Being a true perfectionist when it comes to your smile, we can guarantee that Dr Nino will finish your orthodontic treatment to the highest standards. Rest assured that your smile is in good hands.
  2. Where are you located?
Our practice is located in the Seabank Building on the corner of Short St and Marine Pde in Southport, but our official address is 12-14 Marine Pde, Southport 4215.  You’ll find free 2P parking up the ramp, in front of the building. You can also access the building from Short Street on the side of the building (near Zippy’s Café).
  3. Is there any patient parking?
There is an unmetered 2P section out the very front of the building, however there are limited spaces. All other parking is 2P metered.
  4. How much does treatment cost?
Dr Gullotta likes to offer really reasonable prices for both braces and aligner treatment. All prices are case dependent, as everybody’s teeth are different, however our current average fees for comprehensive treatment start from $7,995.  You can book a free consultation to get an accurate quote.
  5. Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We offer payment plans through EziDebit. Our flexible payment plans can be set up for up to 36 months, so it makes paying for treatment a breeze. Give our friendly reception staff a call on 5532 3433 to find out more about EziDebit.  We will try to work around your family budget and are very flexible with the payment plans, so if you’d like to pay your treatment off earlier, or pay a lump sum, we can easily adjust your balance or repayment timeframe accordingly.
  6. Does treatment hurt?
We won’t beat around the bush. Braces and aligner treatment can be uncomfortable at times, especially if you have a wire change or are moving to your next aligner. However, any discomfort is definitely manageable with Panadol or Nurofen and often only lasts a day or so. Plus, it’s all worth it for that dazzling smile at the end!
  7. Can I have colours on my braces?
In some instances, we don’t offer colours for your braces straight away due to the type of brackets that we use. The colours that you see on braces are usually little rubber bands holding the wires in place so they don’t fall out. Dr Gullotta uses advanced technology, with brackets that hold the wire in place themselves, making treatment time shorter.
  8. What are Clear Aligners (Invisalign, Spark) ?
They are a series of clear aligners (they look like clear retainers) that you wear for 22 hours a day, 7 days a week. To make your teeth move, we put tiny ceramic attachments on the teeth which are much more discreet than bulky braces. One of the biggest benefits of clear aligners is that you can take your aligners out to eat and brush your teeth. This results in a super comfortable experience. The clear aligners we use in our clinic are Spark aligners – click here to find out more.
  9. When is the right time to start orthodontic treatment ?
Orthodontic treatment is optimally initiated during adolescence (ideally between age 10 and 14) when growth spurts aid in addressing tooth and jaw alignment.  In some cases,  early intervention, starting around age 7, allows orthodontists to detect and treat issues before they become complex.
Nonetheless, the advantages of orthodontic treatment are not limited to adolescence. Many adults pursue orthodontic care for both dental health and aesthetics, emphasizing that it’s never too late to improve one’s smile.
  10. What are the potential benefits of orthodontic treatment ?
Orthodontic treatment offers several benefits for children, including:

    • Improved oral health: Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of dental issues like cavities and gum disease.

    • Enhanced self-esteem: A straight, attractive smile can boost one’s self-confidence and overall well-being.

    • Better speech and chewing function: Orthodontic treatment can improve speech and make it easier to bite and chew food.

    • Correction of bite issues: Orthodontics can address overbites, underbites, and crossbites, which can impact jaw function and facial symmetry.

  11. What types of orthodontic treatment options are available ?
There are various orthodontic treatment options available for children, including:

    • Traditional braces: These are the most common type of orthodontic treatment. They consist of metal brackets and wires that gradually move teeth into the desired position.

    • Invisalign and clear aligners: These are transparent, removable aligners that are less noticeable than traditional braces and often preferred by older children or teenagers.

    • Functional appliances: These devices are used to correct issues with the jaw and bite. They can be removable or fixed.

    • Palatal expanders: These are used to widen the upper jaw in cases of crowding or bite issues.

  12. How long will the orthodontic treatment take, and what is the overall process?
Due to everybody’s mouth being different, it’s near impossible for us to tell you a timeframe unless Dr Gullotta has examined your mouth. The duration of orthodontic treatment can vary depending on the complexity of the issues being addressed. In general, treatment can last anywhere from several months to a few years. The orthodontist will provide a more accurate estimate after assessing your or your child’s specific case. The treatment process typically involves regular appointments to adjust braces, aligners, or other orthodontic appliances. These appointments ensure that the teeth are moving as planned and that the treatment is progressing effectively. It’s important to follow the orthodontist’s recommendations and maintain good oral hygiene to help expedite the treatment process.
