PERSONAL CONSULTATION
Your first consultation with Dr Nino is personal, a chance to ask questions and explore your options.
Personalised orthodontic treatment designed for the teenage years, helping teens achieve a healthy, confident smile with specialist care from Dr Nino.
The teen years are often an ideal time for orthodontic treatment. Between the ages of 10 and 14, most adult teeth have come through while the jaw is still developing, making this a common time to begin treatment. At your initial consultation, Dr Nino will assess your teen’s teeth and bite, explain whether treatment is recommended and talk you through the options available.
Every teenager is different and so is every treatment plan. At Gullotta Orthodontics, the right option is the one that suits the teeth, the lifestyle and the age, not a one size fits all approach. Options available include:
A more discreet way to straighten your smile
Custom 3D-printed ceramic brackets designed to blend naturally with your teeth, offering the precision of braces with a less noticeable appearance.
Precision made for your smile
Custom 3D-printed metal brackets individually designed for your teeth, offering a precise, comfortable and efficient treatment experience.
Orthodontic treatment shouldn’t disrupt a teenager’s life. School, sport and everything in between can still be managed without compromise. From contact sport to the school formal, Dr Gullotta works with families to make sure treatment fits around life, not the other way around.
When teeth overlap or sit out of line, they're harder to clean and easy to feel self-conscious about. Straightening them is one of the most common reasons adults come to see us.
Noticeable spaces can affect both the look of your smile and how your teeth function. Treatment closes gaps and brings everything into balance.
Overbites, underbites and crossbites can make eating and speaking harder than they should be and they're very treatable at any age.
A bite that's out of alignment can put strain on your jaw, leading to discomfort or recurring headaches. Correcting it can bring real relief.
Teeth naturally move as we get older, and many adults notice changes years after childhood braces. Treatment can bring them back into line.
Misaligned teeth often wear down unevenly or take more force than they should. Straightening helps protect them for the long term.

Not all smile transformations are equal and the difference often comes down to who’s doing them. General dentists can offer orthodontic treatment but orthodontists train for an additional three years beyond dental school, focusing exclusively on tooth movement, jaw alignment and long-term bite health. It’s a meaningful distinction when you’re making a decision that affects a lifetime.
At Gullotta Orthodontics, Dr Nino Gullotta has dedicated his entire career to this specialty. That depth of focus means more precise results, better management of complex cases and a clearer picture of how treatment will look not just now, but years down the track.
For most teenagers, the ideal window is between 11 and 15, when the adult teeth have come through but the jaw is still developing. That said, every child is different. If you’re unsure, book a consultation with Dr Gullotta is the easiest way to get a clear answer.
There’s usually a short settling-in period after fitting but most teens adjust quickly. Eating does require some adjustments, hard and sticky foods are best avoided and a good brushing routine becomes more important. Outside of that, school, sport and social life carry on as normal.
Yes. We recommend wearing a mouthguard for contact sports, which we can advise on. Clear aligners are removable, so they can be taken out during sport if preferred. Neither option should stop your teen from staying active.
LightForce brackets are 3D-printed to fit your teen’s teeth exactly, rather than using standard off-the-shelf brackets. This means a more precise fit, fewer adjustment appointments and generally a more comfortable experience throughout treatment.
Most teen treatments run between 12 and 24 months depending on the complexity of the case. Dr Gullotta will give you a realistic timeframe at the initial assessment.
