The car park can be accessed by heading east down Nerang Street. Turn left into driveway and proceed to park in a space available.

Upon entering the driveway you will see the boom gate which can be activated via an intercom on the right side of the driveway.

Stop within arm’s reach of the intercom, press the button on intercom, wait for someone to answer, state the patients name, and we will raise the boom gate to let you into to the parking area.

When you are leaving, drive slowly up to the boom gate and it will automatically lift for you to exit.

Please take care when parking as there is very limited room for turning around.

The office can be accessed via the glass door in the car park. We are situated on Level 1.

Why?  

Retainers hold your teeth while they settle into their new positions.  Although it may not seem like it, this final part of treatment is just as important as the first.  That’s because without the retainers, your teeth could soon move back to their old positions, and all that time of wearing braces or invisalign would have been wasted.  So please wear your retainers strictly as directed.

When?  

In most cases we recommend day and nightwear for the first 2 days.  After that, you should only need to wear them at night, that is, put them on after you brush your teeth, wear them to bed and take them out when you wake up the following morning.   

We recommend wearing your retainer as follows:

• every night for the first 2 years (from the time your braces were removed)
• then 2 nights per week for the next 6–12 months
• then 1 night per week indefinitely

We recommend continuing to wear your retainer 1 night per week until no pressure is felt when inserting or removing the retainer.  (This will indicate that your teeth have settled) By following this schedule it is a way of checking that the teeth are staying in position. It is acceptable to wear your retainer more often than these minimum recommendations.

How?  

 The retainers should be inserted and removed from your mouth from the back on each side.  Always push them in firmly and make sure they fit perfectly – otherwise your teeth may move.

Oops, I forgot? 

If you miss a night of wearing your retainers, we recommend you make up for it by wearing them day and night on the following Saturday or Sunday.  This will allow the retainers to settle in properly again and should keep any movement of your teeth to a minimum.

Cleaning

Your retainers should be carefully cleaned with a toothbrush, a little bit of mild dishwashing detergent and cold water. Sometimes a hard white coating might develop on the retainers, which will not come off with normal brushing.  In this case it may be beneficial to soak the appliance once a week, or as required, in white vinegar diluted with water 50:50. DO NOT clean or soak your retainer in hot water OR leave in a hot car as this can distort the plastic!

Storage

It is very important to keep your retainer in the container provided when it is not in your mouth.  Do not leave it lying around or in your pocket (without its container) as it could be easily lost, stolen or broken.  Do not put your retainer in a tissue as it can be easily mistaken for rubbish, forgotten and thrown out.

Beware of Pets

Please be aware that it is very common for dogs and cats to grab retainers and chew them.  To avoid this keep your retainer in its case and store out of reach.
