Types of Braces

Braces can enhance self-confidence and straighten crooked teeth

While adults can have orthodontic treatment, such as braces and aligners, well into their later years, children can get treatment as young as eight years old.

It is with state-of-the-art and up-to-date orthodontic techniques that Dr Nino Gullotta can tailor a treatment option for you or your children.

A customised orthodontic treatment plan, using various types of braces or plastic aligners, will suit your individual dental needs to straighten crooked teeth and rejuvenate your smile. At Gullotta Orthodontics, we build relationships and trust with all of our patients, whether you need interceptive, adolescent or adult treatment.

Interceptive orthodontics

Early screening of a child’s teeth can show potential problems and give the opportunity to have orthodontic treatment before the problems become serious. The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends children have an orthodontic check-up at age eight.

Adolescent orthodontics

The most common time for orthodontic treatment is between the ages of 11 and 15 because by the time a child is 12, most, if not all, of their permanent teeth are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites can easily be detected. This is the time when children are growing rapidly and we can take advantage of this growth to help shape the bite and teeth correctly.

Crooked teeth and a bad bite can cause gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the teeth, headaches and jaw pain. There are various teeth-straightening treatment options to correct these problems for our adult patients,to improve their smile.

Dr Gullotta is highly experienced in all areas of orthodontic treatment, including standard and clear (ceramic) Damon and Insignia braces,  and Invisalign clear plastic aligners. He was awarded as an Invisalign Platinum Provider between 2007 and 2010.

Different dental alignment problems require different treatment options to get the desired result – a beautiful smile. There are many patient benefits and features of each of the treatments, which Dr Gullotta will personally explain during your initial consultation and orthodontic exam.
